Sharing Perspectives is a collaboration between Zodiak, Finland, SITE, Sweden, Estonian Dance Agency, Estonia and the Dance Atelier. In prepartaions and development of the project a pre-project meeting was held in Reykjavík in the beginning of October. Attending the meeting were Anne-Sofie Ericsson from SITE, Tove Sahlin Swedish choreographer, Katja Kirsi from Zodiak, Sonya Lindfors Finish choreographer, Laura Kvelstein from Estonian Dance Agency, Julia Koneva Estonian choreographer, Ólöf Ingólfsdóttir and Tinna Grétarsdóttir from Dance Atelier Iceland and Ásrún Magnúsdóttir Icelandic choreographer.
The aim of the meeting was to test the feasibility of the planned project. As the choreographers are the core of the project it was very important to get them together to scrutinise the project ideas. Participants arrived at different hours on October 3rd, but in the evening we gathered for informal introductions and opening discussions. October 4th was a day of intense meetings. All the choreographers discussed their work and the ideology behind them, relating to the theme of the proposed project: democratic work processes and power relations in dance. Among them they share vast experience in dealing with these topics in artistic dialogue. The day ended in discussions and brainstorming on different approaches to a possible project. In the morning of October 5th we had a final round of discussions and summing up of the meeting.
It was an inspiring meeting with the artists and facilitators and we look forward to follow the work in the future. The meeting was funded by Nordisk Kulturkontakt
